Misconception behind the concept of wellbeing

There is a misconception behind the concept of wellbeing or what it means to embrace the yoga philosophy in our lives.

It isn’t about escaping to the mountains or abandoning your current life. Trust us, there’s no need to abruptly quit your job or suddenly part with your friends. Rather, it’s a journey of discovering how to face your reality, learning the tools to cultivate profound inner peace in the face of life’s challenges, and flow with it. It’s about being brave and accepting that life is perfectly imperfect, and living contently within the unpredictable embrace of reality.

Being at peace isn’t about closing yourself off, it’s more about peacefully navigating the world, understanding your triggers, and evolving around them with a smile. It’s about embracing your story, your sensitivity, and using them as a superpower.

As a super wise guru once said:

“People think Zen is all about calmness and tranquillity and living in some blissed-out state of good vibes. But actually, it’s about how you face your challenges: unhappiness, loneliness, worry, difficult emotions. It’s about learning to deal with what life throws at you, and acceptance of actuality is central to that.”

Or as Csikszentmihalyi, a renowned happiness researcher, co-founder of positive psychologist, said:

“Repression is not the way to virtue. When people restrain themselves out of fear, their lives are by necessity diminished. Only through freely chosen discipline can life be enjoyed and still kept within the bounds of reason.”
